How the Polish student visa works
- Get admission to a Polish higher education institution.
- Register online through e-Konsulat and apply for a national (D) visa for studies – a decision is due within 30 days.
- Before your visa ends, apply in person for a temporary residence permit for studies at the provincial office.
Costs to plan for
- National visa fee: €80.
- Money you must show: more than 776 PLN a month after housing costs (single person), plus money for your return journey.
- Residence permit: 340 PLN stamp duty plus 100 PLN for the residence card.
- Tuition: set by each university.

With a national visa marked “student” or a residence permit for studies, you can work in Poland without a separate work permit.
After you graduate
Graduates of Polish full-time studies (bachelor’s or higher) can get a 9-month residence permit, once, to look for work or start a business.
