How the Malaysian student visa works
- Receive an offer letter from a Malaysian institution.
- Your institution submits your visa application through EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services).
- EMGS processes the application and issues a Visa Approval Letter (VAL).
- Apply for a single-entry visa if your nationality requires one.
- On arrival, complete the compulsory medical screening within seven working days.
- Your passport is endorsed with your Student Pass.
Costs to plan for
- Tuition and living costs: generally lower than the UK, USA or Australia – they vary by institution and city.
- Visa and processing fees: paid through your institution; we confirm the current amounts for your course.
Working while you study
Students may work part-time only during semester breaks or holidays of more than 7 days, up to 20 hours a week, in approved sectors and with prior immigration approval through their institution.
After you graduate
Malaysia’s Graduate Pass currently covers a limited list of nationalities, and Pakistan is not on it. Plan your study in Malaysia for the degree itself, or as a step to further study elsewhere.
