How the Japanese student visa works
- Get admission from a Japanese university, college or language school.
- Your school applies for your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) at the immigration bureau in Japan, acting as your proxy.
- With the COE, apply for your student visa at the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in Pakistan.
- On arrival you receive your residence card; register it at your local municipal office within 14 days.
Money and documents
You may be asked for proof of funds – for example a savings balance certificate, an income certificate for the past year and documents showing where the money comes from. We prepare these with you.
Working while you study
With permission from immigration, you can work up to 28 hours a week during term and up to 8 hours a day during long school holidays.
After you graduate
Graduates can change their status of residence to work in Japan or, in some cases, to continue job-hunting. We explain the options that fit your course.
