To study in Indonesia from Pakistan you need an E30B higher-education student visa, normally arranged by your university as sponsor through the immigration e-visa system. Official fees run from IDR 6,000,000 to IDR 12,000,000 depending on the stay permit. This guide covers the steps, funds, work rules and what we could not confirm.
Indonesia student visa process from Pakistan
Indonesian immigration now splits the old E30 student visa into E30A for primary and secondary school and E30B for higher education. The guarantor can be an individual or the educational institution, and stay permits of up to four years are available. Universities still describe the E30B as the route for degree students.
- Get a letter of acceptance stating your programme and its duration.
- Your sponsor applies. University pages say the sponsor registers on the immigration e-visa site, uploads your documents and pays the fees.
- Immigration checks and issues the visa. Universities quote 5 working days after payment (Jember), 7 to 10 working days (Universitas Indonesia) or 2 to 4 weeks (UII), and longer for “calling visa” countries.
- Enter Indonesia within 90 days of issue. The Limited Stay Permit and re-entry permit are issued when the officer grants entry.
- After arrival do the police report and residence registration, and extend online before expiry.
Universitas Indonesia emails the visa document, so you do not visit an embassy. UII asks for a passport valid for at least 18 months for a one-year permit and 30 months for a two-year permit. Indonesia’s calling-visa rules apply to listed countries, and we could not confirm whether Pakistan is on the current list, so we check this before you apply.

- Passport valid for at least six months, or longer as above.
- Bank statements for the last three months showing at least USD 2,000, from you or your sponsor (university pages).
- A recent colour photo, CV, travel itinerary and proof of sponsorship.
- Health insurance, which Universitas Indonesia lists among its visa documents.
The immigration article gives the USD 2,000 living-expenses figure for the non-formal E30. We read the student version on university pages, because the immigration page for the E30B would not open for us.

The UI page does not say how long the UKT covers. Gadjah Mada’s FISIPOL International Undergraduate Programme charges IDR 26,500,000 per semester for international students plus a one-off IDR 20,000,000 institutional fee. Its FMIPA programme charges IDR 20 to 25 million per semester plus IDR 50 million in the first semester. We found no official living-cost estimate.
Working in Indonesia as a student
UI, UII and Unpad all say E30B holders may not work, sell goods or services, or receive pay from Indonesian individuals or companies. We could not read the immigration wording itself, and we found no post-study stay or work option, so ask us before you plan around staying on.
UIII says dependants receive a dependent KITAS tied to the student’s permit. It covers a spouse and unmarried children under 18, costs IDR 6,000,000 (up to one year) or IDR 8,500,000 (up to two years), and dependants may not work. That page is undated.
English requirements and entry with the HSSC

Some programmes also need Bahasa Indonesia. UII asks for fluent spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia in its regular programmes and offers a preparation course. Universitas Indonesia asks for a high school certificate with graduation in 2022 or later, a transcript and a health certificate.
We could not confirm that Indonesian universities accept the Pakistani HSSC, or whether HEC attestation is needed. BINUS says foreign-curriculum graduates need a Diploma Equivalency Letter from the Ministry of Education, applied for online. We found no accreditation check for Indonesian degrees in Pakistan, so we confirm recognition before you pay.
Dates, scholarships and how we help
Gadjah Mada’s 2026 application windows were 20 January to 19 February, 1 to 28 April and 19 May to 2 June. We could not find 2027 dates for UGM or UI. The Indonesian government’s Developing Countries Partnership Scholarship (KNB) covers tuition, a living allowance, health insurance and airfare, with an embassy recommendation letter required. We could not confirm that Pakistan is an eligible country or the next round’s dates.
