How the Chinese student visa works
- Get an admission notice from a Chinese university.
- Receive your JW201 or JW202 visa application form from the university.
- Apply for an X1 visa (study of more than 180 days) with both documents. Short courses of 180 days or less use an X2 visa.
- Within 30 days of arriving, apply for your residence permit at the local Exit-Entry Administration.
Scholarships
The Chinese Government Scholarship and many university and provincial scholarships are open to international students. Full scholarships can cover tuition, on-campus accommodation, a monthly living allowance and medical insurance. We help you find the ones that match your course and grades.
