How this IELTS writing practice works
Choose a Task 1 chart or a Task 2 essay question, write your answer in the box and press Check my writing. The tool checks your word count, paragraphs, sentence length, linking words, repeated words, formal style and, for each task, the features examiners expect, such as an overview in Task 1 and a conclusion in Task 2.
It then gives you a self-check list based on the four public IELTS Writing criteria and a sample answer written by LAMTANS so that you can compare ideas, structure and language.
These checks are not an IELTS band score, because only trained examiners can give one. All prompts, charts (with invented data) and sample answers are original LAMTANS practice material, not copied from any official paper. Your drafts stay in your own browser.

IELTS Task 1 practice
Task 1 practice uses charts. The chart data is invented for practice, and the question styles follow the public IELTS Academic Writing tasks. Write your answer in your own words. Then check it against the self-check list and the sample answer. Repeat with a new chart to build speed.
IELTS Task 2 essay practice
Task 2 practice gives you essay questions in the public Academic style. You get instant checks on length, structure and linking words, then a sample answer to compare.
