How this IELTS speaking practice works
Choose a Part 1 topic, a Part 2 cue card or a Part 3 discussion set, or take a full mock test. Read or hear the question, then answer out loud with your microphone or type your answer. For Part 2 there is a one-minute preparation timer and a two-minute speaking timer.
After each answer the tool checks the length, linking words, repeated words, filler phrases and the grammar structures you used, and shows a sample answer written by LAMTANS. At the end you get a self-check list based on the four public IELTS Speaking criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation.
About your voice. The microphone option uses your browser's own speech-to-text. In some browsers, for example Chrome, your voice is sent to that browser's speech service (such as Google) to be turned into text. LAMTANS does not receive, record or store your voice or your answers, and nothing is saved on this site. If you prefer, you can type your answers instead. The optional listen-back recording stays in your own browser tab.
These checks are not an IELTS band score, because only trained examiners can give one, and speech-to-text can make mistakes. All questions and sample answers are original LAMTANS practice material, not copied from any official paper.
