Friday prayer runs from 12 to 2 pm at the Multifaith Centre. We could not confirm prayer facilities at the University of Sheffield.

Welcome to Sheffield lists Tramlines in July, DocFest, the Food Festival, Off the Shelf and No Bounds in October, Art in the Gardens in September and the World Snooker Championship. It describes Sheffield as the Outdoor City: 61% green space, about a third inside the Peak District National Park and more than 800 managed green spaces.

Work and sectors

The city promotes advanced manufacturing (the AMRC), aerospace (Boeing), automotive (McLaren), health and wellbeing, digital and tech, and start-ups. These are investment sectors, not a promise of student jobs.

What we could not confirm

How we help

We help you choose a course and university, check your funds against the visa rule and prepare your application. Use our UK cost estimator to compare tuition in Sheffield with other cities, then book a free initial consultation. We cannot promise a visa.

Choosing between Sheffield’s two universities

Sheffield Hallam publishes hall prices and prayer facilities that we could read. For the University of Sheffield we found a mention on the bus pass page but no prices or prayer facilities, so we do not compare them. Ask both for current prices, then use our UK cost estimator to compare tuition.

  • Do I need a student ID before I can buy the Stagecoach or First student tickets?
  • Which hall instalment dates apply to me?
  • How far is my campus from the tram line?

Your first month in Sheffield

  1. Get your student ID first, because the bus and tram tickets need it.
  2. Note your hall rent dates in October, January and April.
  3. Find the Multifaith Centre or the nearest Adsetts Library prayer room.
  4. Explore the Peak District edge of the city when you have free time.

Our settling-in guide covers your GP, bank and visa status.

Before you pay a deposit

Prices on this page come from university and transport pages that show different dates. Ask both universities for written current prices, check which ID the ticket sellers accept, and keep your payment proof. Our settling-in guide lists the deposit rules.
