Pakistani citizens need a visitor visa to visit Canada. The fee is CAD $100 plus CAD $85 for biometrics, you apply online, and IRCC’s data showed a processing time of 71 days for Pakistan on 7 October 2026. This guide covers documents, funds and the Super Visa for parents and grandparents.
Visitor visa basics
Pakistan is on Canada’s visa-required list, and the eTA does not apply. Most visitors can stay up to six months, and a visa can be valid for up to 10 years or until your passport or biometrics expire. The officer decides between single and multiple entry. Your passport should be valid for at least six months. You must convince the officer you will leave Canada.
Fees and processing time
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Visitor visa, per person | CAD $100 |
| Family of 5 or more | CAD $500 |
| Biometrics, per person | CAD $85 (family maximum CAD $170) |
IRCC data showed 71 days for Pakistan on 7 October 2026. That is not a guarantee, and you should check the IRCC tool when you apply. Fees are not refunded. We could not confirm any VFS service charges that apply to visitor visas.
How to apply from Pakistan
- Apply online through your IRCC account. You need a scanner or camera and a credit card.
- Pay the fees and submit.
- Wait for your biometric instruction letter, then book a free appointment at the VFS centre in Islamabad, Karachi or Lahore.
- Give biometrics within 30 days. Upload the letter when booking.
Never pay anyone for a biometrics appointment. Do not send your passport until IRCC asks.
Documents and funds
- Passport copy with all stamped pages.
- Travel history, itinerary and bank statements, with IRCC recommending six months of statements.
- An employer letter dated within 3 months of applying.
- A letter of invitation from your host, when you have one.
- A medical exam is generally needed only for stays over 6 months.
IRCC publishes no fixed funds amount. The amount you need depends on how long you stay and whether you pay for a hotel. Weak ties to Pakistan and doubts that you will leave are the main refusal reasons.
Super Visa for parents and grandparents
The Super Visa lets parents and grandparents of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident visit for up to five years at a time, with multiple entries for up to 10 years. The host needs the minimum income: CAD $30,526 for one person, CAD $38,002 for two and CAD $46,720 for three, in IRCC’s table dated 29 July 2025. You need at least CAD $100,000 of insurance valid for a year, which an approved foreign insurer can now provide. A medical exam is required.

Refusals and reapplying
IRCC gives two main reasons on its help page: the officer was not satisfied that you would leave Canada by the end of your stay, or you are inadmissible. An incomplete application can also be refused. An online refusal shows its reason in your IRCC account. Fix the cause before reapplying, because fees are not refunded.
Ties matter most: a job, business, property and close family in Pakistan all help. A clear travel history, even to other countries, supports your case.
Business visitors and family visits
Business visitors can attend meetings, conferences and trade fairs, or take orders, but must not enter the Canadian labour market and must earn their income outside Canada. Visitors from Pakistan still apply for a visitor visa at the same fee.
For a family visit, a letter of invitation sets out your host’s status, your purpose, stay and who pays. It does not guarantee a visa. Documents not in English or French need a translation.
